Just seeing what flies and methods work best for you in the river fish.
Freshwater rivers mainly fish in some rivers in Washington state, with which the principal is the Yakima River. I fish many streams. My real love story is with Montana. I fish the Missouri River below Holter Dam to Cascade. This area is located between Helena and Great Falls, where the river enters the Rocky Mountains and starts knocking the flat farm land. The other area of Montana I love going to the Dillon area, in southwestern Montana. There are 5 excellent rivers for fishing in the few hours of training: The Madison, Beaverhead, Big Hole, Jefferson and Ruby. El Boqueron is my favorite with the Beaverhead, followed very closely. Last year a group went to Casper, Wyoming and fish the North Platte River. It is a great place to go and I will return to fight the Rainbow again. Only for information on all the rivers above, I am always guided trips in drift boats or rafts rigid frame. The guides know the rivers and flying fish are taken in time where the fish. Which significantly increases the capture (and exit) fees. As for flies, because feeding fish + 90% of the time nymphs is the kind I mostly fly fish. I always leave the task of guiding, but I told them that the fish nymphs, streamers and dry, whatever method is best for fishing in the river now. Most of the time is nymphing. I am ready to fish all three ways. I do not like fly fishing hair, but if limited to those few days rather slow. However, when the fish come to the surface and taking flies, then I change my cane dry fly fishing. To dry the rivers, the flies are important Caddis, Parachute Adams, BWO, PMD, changes in grasshopper and pacemakers. The flies used in Yakima and Missouri tend to be smaller in size. The flies in rivers around Dillon may be higher, depending on what stands out. For nymphing, most I often use a double blow, but Wyoming was a triple discharge. I guarantee that during the day in any of these rivers will stop using San Juan Worms, Beadhead Flashback Pheasant Tails, (I realized I forgot to list another nymph who is largely should have, Hare's Ear) Beadhead Hare Hare Ears and Ears Beadhead flash, copper Johns, Brassie (other than I think I forgot to mention earlier, is more) Lightening Bugs and Prince nymphs. Then there are some guides Caddis nymphs bonds found their favorite rivers. The guides will also use some of their habits Stonefly nymph own. As for the flags, which is what the guide wants, usually tied to a house to steal your own that seems to really work on their rivers. Sometimes it seems that the fish will take a variety of flies and other times they are seized an insect in particular and if you have a good imitation of this ruling, be a slow day. There were days when we were changing flies around each 10 to 15 minutes because we could not find what they wanted. We ended the day fly by and have a blast. Larry
